Ranges FAQ

A gas range uses an open flame to deliver heat to both the cooktop and oven, while electric ranges have coil heating elements beneath a glass cooktop. Induction ranges heat pots and pans quickly - but not the cooktop itself - with powerful magnets, however, it requires special induction pans. For maximum power and accuracy, there are dual-fuel ranges: a gas cooktop over an electric oven.

"Stove" is a term that may mean different things to different people, leading to confusion. However, the dictionary defines "stove" as simply an appliance for cooking or heating, and it is commonly used interchangeably with "range."

At Coast Appliances, we have ranges to fit any kitchen. While many kitchens have space for a standard 30-inch-wide range, you may need one narrower for your space or one much wider to fit more burners for extra cooking power. Consider your budget and needs and let us show you how to get the most for your money.

Gas and electric ranges are some of the longest-lived cooking appliances, with 13-15 years of service expectancies. But if your range isn't heating - or is heating unevenly - it may be time to replace it, no matter how old it is. A good rule of thumb is if repairs will cost 50% or more of the cost of a new model, replace it.

It’s a good idea to invest in a range from a brand with a track record of making reliable appliances. At Coast Appliances, those are the only brands we sell, including Whirlpool, Frigidaire, GE, Wolf, Fisher Paykel and many more. If we carry it, it’s reliable!
